Plain-language version: we collect what you send us through the contact form or the chat assistant, we use it to reply and do the work, and we don't sell it. We count visits without cookies. The homepage uses one small cookie of its own to fit what it shows you. The details are below.

Who we are

Stonekept is a web design studio based in Buffalo, Minnesota. You can reach us at hello@stonekept.studio or (763) 265-9929. This policy explains what information this website collects and how we handle it.

What we collect

  • The contact form: your name and email address, and (optionally) your phone number, business name, what you need, and your message.
  • The chat assistant: whatever you type into it.
  • Visit statistics: anonymous counts of which pages are viewed, with no cookies and nothing that identifies you (see below).
  • Homepage personalization: your approximate town, the page you came from, and a small cookie that remembers a few choices (see how the homepage adapts).

We don't ask for anything sensitive, and nothing on the site needs an account.

How we use it

We use the details you send us for one thing: to respond to you and, if you become a client, to carry out the work. We don't use them for advertising, and we don't sell or rent them to anyone.

How it's handled

  • Form submissions are delivered to us by email through our email provider so we can read and reply to them.
  • The contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check that a message comes from a person rather than a spam bot.
  • The chat assistant sends what you type to Anthropic, whose AI model writes the replies. We may keep a copy of chat conversations, with your approximate city and country and your browser type but not your IP address, so we can see what people ask and improve the answers. Please don't share anything sensitive in the chat.
  • When you run the website speed test, the address you enter is sent to Google PageSpeed Insights, which runs the test. The other free tools run entirely in your browser.
  • This site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes the basic technical request data (such as IP address) needed to serve and protect the site.
  • We load fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser requests those files from Google when the page loads.
  • If you pay us, payment happens on Stripe's own secure pages. We never see or store your full card or bank details.
  • We keep inquiries and chat logs only as long as we need them to respond and to maintain our business records, then remove them.

How the homepage adapts

The homepage changes a few lines to fit you, like naming your town or leading with work from your industry. This is everything it uses:

  • Your approximate town, which Cloudflare works out from your IP address as the page loads. We use it only to pick the wording, and we don't store it.
  • The page you came from on this site, so arriving from the contractors page leads with contractor work.
  • A cookie named sk_pz that remembers, in your own browser for 30 days, the industry and town pages you've read, your answer to “What brings you here?”, and your mobile score if you run the speed test. It holds nothing else, isn't shared with anyone, and isn't used for advertising.

When you pick an answer to “What brings you here?”, we also add one to an anonymous tally of which answers people choose. The tally records only the answer and the time, never anything about you.

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, the site doesn't remember the pages you read or your speed test score. You can clear the cookie now or block cookies in your browser. The site works the same without it.

Cookies & tracking

This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies, and we don't run third-party ad networks on it. Its only cookie is the homepage one described above, which stays in your browser. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages get read. It doesn't use cookies, doesn't build a profile of you, and doesn't follow you to other sites.

Your choices

You can ask us to show you what information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Just email hello@stonekept.studio and we'll take care of it. You can also simply not use the form or the chat; nothing on the site requires them.
